Enhancing VW Transporter Braking Performance

The VW Transporter has been around since the T1 model was released in 1949 and has become quite a popular vehicle with the modding community since the T4 generation hit the roads in 1990. Sales of the most recent iteration, the T7, started in 2022.

Whilst the Transporter is a very versatile platform, which can be converted for a wide range of uses, one area that lets it down is the braking performance. This is especially prevalent when extra weight is added to the chassis - the OEM brakes quickly become insufficient to slow the vehicle down in a reasonable distance.

The easiest way to overcome these shortcomings is by increasing the diameter of the brake discs and upgrading the calipers. We offer a wide range of brake kit options for the T4, T5, and T6 models. Our front kits range from 330mm 4-pots (suitable for 17" wheels), all the way up to our huge 430mm XL 8-pot (suitable for 21" wheels). Our rear kits also start at 330mm 4-pot and go up to 405mm 6-pots (20" wheels).

As with all the products we offer, everything is customizable! Brake calipers are available in 15 anodized and 15 painted colours. We have 3 different disc patterns to choose from, and an optional fully-floating upgrade for extreme use. Caliper pistons can be made from aluminium or stainless, with optional anti-knockback springs or vented edges for improved pedal feel.

We have brake pad compounds suitable for street, fast road, and race use, and we are now also offering colour-coded anodized center hats with our brake discs to match the calipers.
